Treating And Removing Acne Scars
A lot of emails to our website often ask if scars can be removed. The simple answer is yes. Removing acne scars has become a high priority for a lot of teens just out of puberty, but also for adults too, that have had to live with these scars all their life.
If you suffer from acne scarring, then it may seem like a double ‘punishment’. You deal with the acne, only to find that it has left ‘markers’ behind, in the form of scars.
Get a base understanding of the type of acne scar you have before you purchase any scar removal products. It will guide you as to how long it will take to get rid of them, or at the very least, for them to fade.
What Is Acne?
In brief, acne is a skin condition that manifests as little (sometimes large) ‘bumps’ on the surface of the skin.
These bumps can appear as:
In whatever form they appear, they are rarely welcome!
Hair follicles, and the pores of your skin, contain what are called, ‘sebaceous glands’ (oil glands). They makes sebum, which lubricates your hair and skin.
These sebaceous glands generally make the right amount of sebum. However, they can overproduce, causing bulges and bumps underneath and on the surface of the skin… forming what is commonly known as, acne

Different Types Of Acne
MILD ACNE: Whiteheads and/or Blackheads are most common with mild acne attacks. Most of us in our lifetime have suffered from them.
MODERATE ACNE: This causes the skin to become inflamed and turn red. Inflamed pimples (papules) and red pimples with white centers (called pustules) are the common type.
SEVERE ACNE: This type of acne can be quite painful. Generally speaking this type of acne manifests as Pus-filled cysts or nodules under the skin.
The most severe acne scarring is caused by the most severe types of acne conditions. They can form deep ‘pits’ in the skin that do not heal, leaving a scar. They leave permanent deep scars. However, all acne types are capable of leaving scars.
Prevention Is Often The Cure
The best approach to removing acne scars is prevention. Treat your acne before it has a chance to become too severe. We recommend Acnezine for a variety of reasons but most notably because it is extremely powerful and contains 100% all natural ingredients.
Treating Acne Scars
One of the main reasons for Acne scarring is the fact that we cannot resist the temptation to either squeeze or pick at whiteheads, blackheads, pimples and cycts. We make a rod for our own backs by not resisting the temptation.
Acne scars take two typical forms:
- Scars with a gradual dip or depression (sometimes called “rolling” scars)
- Scars that are deep and narrow
It is important to note that a persons acne needs to be fully under control before any scarring is treated. We recommend Acnezine to bring your acne under control.
Acne Scar Treatments
There are many approaches to acne scar treatments. Certain types of treatment can depend on how severe the scars are.
In some instances, a dermatologist or doctor might suggest trying a chemical peel or microdermabrasion to help improve the appearance of any scarred areas.
These types of treatments are quite mild and can be done locally.
For the more serious scarring, other types of treatment might help, but nothing is guaranteed:
This type of procedure is generally done in a dermatologist’s or doctors office. The laser is used to remove the damaged top layer of skin and to tighten the middle layer, hopefully, leaving the skin surface smoother.
It can sometimes be painful and take anywhere from a few minutes to an hour per treatment. The doctor uses a local anesthesia to curb any pain from the treatment.
This type of treatment uses a rotating wire brush instrument to wear down on the surface of the skin. As the skin heals, a smoother new layer replaces the abraded skin.
This can work on slight scars but not deep ones. If done incorrectly, this treatment can cause the skin to become inflamed and irritable.
Fractional Laser Therapy
This treatment is used for deeper type scars, ones that laser resurfacing or dermabrasion cannot heal. For a couple of days, someone who has had this type of treatment might look a little sunburned.
